Come join BRTri, False River Tri Club and others for an open water swim in False River on Saturday, May 3 at 7:30 a.m. This is not a clinic, it’s a swim, and we plan to have a couple kayaks or paddle boards to provide support. Please make sure to bring a bright colored swim cap to wear.
From there you have two options for post swim rides as well–the 56 mile River Roux Triathlon course or the 18 mile Louisiana Triathlon course.
If you would rather kayak than swim, please send us a message as we can always use another.

Luck is the last dying wish of those who wanna believe that winning can happen by accident, sweat on the other hand is for those who know it’s a choice, so decide now because destiny waits for no man. And when your time comes and a thousand different voices are trying to tell you you’re not ready for it, listen instead for that lone voice in decent the one that says you are ready, you are prepared, it’s all up to you now. Recent research shows that listening to music that brings the listener feelings of joy is enough to dilate blood vessels, increasing blood flow.
There is also a psychological benefit of music on sports performance as music has shown to be a great way to regulate mood both before and during physical activity.
Sports psychologist at Brunel University, Dr. Costas Karageorghis, has done studies to see the impact of music on sports performance. Synchronous music (music that has a clear and steady beat) was shown to elevate a person’s performance by 20%, whereas asynchronous music (background music) was shown to calm the nerves of athletes by as much as 10%.
Dr. Costas Karageorghis theorizes that there are 4 main ways that music affects an athlete:
Music distracts an athlete from fatigue.
Music can act as a mood altering catalyst.
Music can synchronize an athlete’s rhythm and movement.
Music can act as a trigger for learning certain motions and aid with muscle memory.
From the evidence provided, there seems to be a correlation between music and performance.
The triathlete spends countless training hours swimming laps and covering many miles by bike and foot. In addition to making triathlon training more enjoyable, listening to music may even give you a slight training edge.

Parking will be in the back of the lake, restrooms will be located by Cajun Man start. Everyone attending should bring shoes or sandals (in addition to your swimgear) for swim entrance. Boats will be present on the lake for safety. We will start with a 20 minute warm up then progress into mass starts consisting of groups of 10 and getting larger as each athlete gets comfortable with the starts. Athlete’s will be able to work on sighting and race pace for a triathlon.
