Bikes make Life better
We all know that when people ride bikes, life is better. In this short video, we bring this idea to life as riders trigger projectors throughout a city, transforming an urban environment into a vibrant, colorful world. A world made better, by bikes.
It’s cool little videos like this that can help to refocus on the simple joys of riding a bike. Yes, we all know they should be wearing helmets, let’s look past that for the deeper message in the video. Bikes are good, people on bikes are better, and to show your support make sure you have signed the PeopleforBikes Pledge!

Precision Bikes Racing Team Criterium Training

What: Criterium Training Races for ALL.
Date: May 25th Wednesday, 2011
Time: 6:00PM Race A – Beginners Duration: 30 minutes
6:30PM Race B – Advanced Duration 60 or so minutes.
Where: Right behind Rouses there is a full .65 mile square.
Rules: Conventional Road Race Style Bicycle. No TT Bikes and you must wear a helmet. If a car happens to enter the course – everyone go neutral roll.
After years of searching for a SAFE local criterium course to mess around on, we never noticed that there was one right under our noses right behind rouses in Youngsville. The good thing about this course is you can see traffic from all angles. This is mainly for newcomers to the sport to get some confidence and feel while racing in a pack as well as improving bike handling skills. The good thing about this race is there is no definite race rules. If you get dropped, sit out a lap and jump back in.
Hope to see you there. Please park in the Rouses parking lot and not on the course. Thanks!
*The cops may or may not shut us down because we will have to breeze through one stop sign*

Nice job Mark Herpin, Mike Reis, Chris Biggerstaff, Cody Fontenot, Bob Koenig and Andy Todd. Sorry if I forgot anyone, just let me know. Also congrats to Jimmy Bienvenu who was drawn in the Hawaiian Lottery for Kona and is now well on his way.

Oakley Limited Edition Echelon Radar, Jawbone Headed for Bicycle Shops Only!
Oakley feels ya, so they’ve put their limited edition Echelon Jawbone and Radar sunglasses on the faces of Levi Leipheimer, Andy Schleck and Chris Horner during the Tour of California and made them for IBD retail only. Both have a carbon-fiber look frame with interchangeable lenses and come with Ruby VR50 Photochromic lenses installed…the same lenses that George Hincapie and others are rockin’. Retail on both are $250.
PRESS RELEASE: With its True Carbon finish, this Oakley Echelon edition leaves ordinary sunglasses in a slipstream of style. The look is a high salute to the carbon fiber technology that creates insanely lightweight bikes for the pro peloton. You’ll be the one to watch because we gave the look an ultra POP factor, enriching the race-ready optics with a fresh color that paints performance with personality.
Echelon editions with single-lens sport shields utilize Oakley Photochromic, and dual-lens editions are Activated by Transitions®. Both versions darken in response to sunlight to adapt your vision and help you keep up with changing conditions. Our VR50™ lens tint is matched with Ruby Iridium® coating for the ultimate performance combo. If it’s sunny at the start and drizzling at the finish, no worries. The optics will adjust to keep you focused on the road with razor sharp clarity. The lenses of Echelon editions are especially good in shadows and under trees, and when you’re heading in and out of tunnels.

Everyone’s Invited
There's no shame in wanting to go to a wind tunnel, and no need to defend your reasons why. Whether you're looking to close this chapter of your life forever, or open a new one that may not ever end, you'll never know unless you go. John Cobb is a well known, self-made aerodynamics and biomechanics guru who has worked with Greg LeMond and Lance Armstrong. Last fall, he invited me, the co-manager of my cycling team - NorCal district road race champ, Susannah Breen - to undergo a wind tunnel testing at Texas A&M.
Cobb's a straight shooter from Texas, but speaks with a Louisiana drawl. A good 'ol boy from Shreveport now based in Tyler, he's made a career out of challenging convention through endless biomechanics and "tunnel" testing.

Crash witness: ‘Weylandt was catapulted across the road’
RAPALLO, Italy (VN) – Manuel Cardoso, a Portuguese rider on the RadioShack team, is one of the few riders who witnessed the tragic accident that claimed the life of Belgian rider Wouter Weylandt in Monday’s third stage at the Giro d’Italia.
Cardoso was trailing Weylandt near the bottom of the Passo del Bocco with about 25km to go when he saw the big Belgian crash.

Giro d'Italia-Stage 3
Louis Garneau X-Lite Helmet
Among the lightweight helmets introduced lately, Louis Garneau’s X-Lite is the sleeper. Introduced around Interbike last year, it has a claimed weight of just 188g for the EU model, and our CPSC-approved version came in at 211g (Med.). This puts it in the league of the Specialized Prevail (228g), Giro Prolight (195g) and Aeon (220g), though Limar’s Superlight may still be the lightest at 159g actual (EU).
Of the models listed above, I’ve used the Prevail and Prolight and can honestly say that the Garneau X-Lite is as comfortable as either, works well for both road and mountain biking and the adjustments work pretty well. If you’re looking for a new (or lighter) lid, click here for the full review, from our friends at Bike Rumor;)
Leather Bicycle Wine Carrier

Next time you roll up to the party or take your sweetie on a bicycle picnic, do so in style. Oopsmark’s leather Bicycle Wine Rack is a fashion bargain at about $32, and it easily attaches to any 1" bike frame, with antique brass fasteners. Hidden metal clamps hold the bottle securely. The recycled oil-treated vegetable-tanned leather will only look better as it ages. Check ‘em out on Etsy.

Follow up on St. George Ironman

No other time was posted. Congrats Tim on a 8th place finish in his age group and Keith Barras is the man finishing his first Ironman in no doubt one of the hardest races out there.
Claudia did cross the finish line in true Ironman Style.
She stayed back and walked with a young girl who needed some help to make the finish.
Even though they were after cut off, they both received medals.
Claudia, I am sure the woman you helped will never forget you, great Sportsmanship.
Hope to see all of you soon.
