Precision Bikes Webmaster

As a response to the comments posted this morning on the LAMBRA\USAC ITT CHAMPIONSHIPS RESULTS:

My name is Ruud Vuijsters, PT, I have, more or less taken it upon myself, with Mark Miller's approval, to run www.precisionbikes.com in a 'blog' format.
Never have I proclaimed to do a perfect job.
I am a PT by profession, the posting is just a hobby.
The purpose of the site is to keep customers and all whom take interest in the sport of cycling\triathlon\ironman\running informed of the happenings at the shop, events to take place, with subsequent results, and generalized news in the world of our sports, to the best of my abilities.
Being a avid cyclist and huge fan of the sport, does not mean that I know all the local athletes. This has resulted in the past that athletes names sometimes were not included in the total finishing list.
When brought to my attention, corrections were always made, again, to the best of my abilities!

What has happened today would result in division, rather than a uniting of our athletes in this area. That is not what Mark Miller's Precision Bikes or the webmaster are about.

After discussion late this afternoon, we have come to the conclusion that Precision Bikes reserves the right to remove any inflammatory comments, especially with name calling, posted anonymously, ASAP.
When this behavior will continue, Precision Bikes feels forced in future, to screen\approve of comments, before published.

So sorry a simple post has lead to so much negativity!

Kind regards,
Ruud Vuijsters, P.T.

  1. The people at Precision Bikes are first class! Always willing to help, very knowledgeable staff and great pricing on merchandise. However, I would like to see special events put on to help us just starting out. So hopefully my training wheels will come off by December, as per Mark's approval. GOD BLESS!

  2. Mark and his staff have always gone above and beyond to help out the cycling community in Lafayette, this website is just on of the many ways he keeps everyone involved in what is going on here locally. It is ashamed that because of one person's dumb comments Mark's shop gets thrown under the bus. Mark thanks again for all your support and involvement with the Time Trials, Race Team, numerous race sponsorships, and everything else you have done for the local cyclist and triathletes. You are a great friend.

  3. I agree! I started out not knowing anyone at this shop or anyone in this sport and bought a bike alost two years ago from Precision Bikes. Through the help of Mark/Ruud/the guys in the back/the customers which surround the shop I have gained true friends and have grown in the sports of cycling and triathlons Tremendously. I do not feel I would be as involved in these sports as much as I am if it were not for them. Thanks Mark and all the others who have given me guidence. I hope to have a long growing relationship with Precision! And as for the coward who does not have the balls to own up to his comments I do not have much respect. Especially after seeing how much grief it has caused. The same goes to whoever decided to bring the whole bike shop into a tif between two people and make explicit rude remarks regarding great people, it goes to you also.

    Thanks,

    Cole LeBlanc:)

  4. It is wrong for people to bash Precision Bikes and Mark Miller because of one comment. We are fortunate to have Mark Miller and Precision Bikes in Lafayette. People travel from all over the south to visit Precision Bikes for Mark's knowledge and expertise. Like Cole said above I too walk into Precision Bikes a few years ago not knowing Mark and he helped me like he has many others to purchase a bike that suited my needs. Through the years I have gotten to know Mark and he is a good person, business man and friend.

  5. I am beside myself to hear the turmoil the comments of an anonymous coward have created. Mark and Precision Bikes has always gone above and beyond to help anyone interested in the sport. As I read the string of post, one thing truly comes to mind. If you think about that everything that must go right to have a truly good race it is remarkable with starts from the support of family and friends. That is exactly how I view the crew at Precision.

To put a different prospective on the previous post, I have tremendous respect for the athletes that hold their head up despite the adversities facing them. Rutger Beke will forever have my utmost respect. Not for this 1:31 per 100 m swim or his 24.3 MPH bike split, but for his 5:34:42 marathon during the 2007 IM World Championships. I truly feel the original post that started this was a simple post on race results. I think everyone should appreciate the fact that everyone was able to enjoy a good day of racing and I respect Jonathan for pressing on.

I appreciate truly appreciate everything Precision Bikes has done for the triathlon and cycling community.

  6. Blah, blah, blah. Some of us need to grow up, seriously! We need to search our souls and ask ourselves the question, why are we involved in the sport?

If our answer is because we want to see our results posted, then we will be disappointed when posted incorrectly or not at all -if anywhere. If our answer is to be fit, to have an outlet, to have a better life, then who cares? Also if beaten by a Guatemalan, I know you would not want your results posted.

Ruud, don't ever give up your day job. Miller, you made me a promise that if I learned how to ride you would take care of my bike needs and you have. The rest of you try to beat me at IM this year. Only one person has.

This is crazy!! Mark and his shop do an expert job at taking care of all biking needs, from beginner cyclist to Ironman training for Kona. Where else, even remotely close to Lafayette, can you walk in and actually get first-hand knowledge of the sport?

And to those of us who visit the site regularly, it is obvious that Ruud has done an excellent job in growing and developing it.

It's evident you cowards without a name are riding and training along side of us, taking note of what everyone else is doing! And to "blah, blah, blah" above.....Yes, it takes balls to do IM. Congratulations!! When all you anonymous guys want to come out of the closet and reveal your identity, I'll be happy to hold your pair in my purse while you're busy whining and holding your grudge.

  8. Mark Miller, Rudd and Precision Bike employees didn't deserve the comments that were made because of one insecure brat. I will say there are people who wear the Precision Bike kit that speak from both sides of their mouth! I have noticed a seperation in the team for the 2010 racing season because of a few individuals, and I can assure you it had nothing to do with Precsion Bikes or it's employees. Just remeber what we represent when we wear the kit and the oath we made by becoming a Precision Bikes team member.

  9. I leave town and cowards act "tough" with their keyboards. Mark, Ruud, and all employees of precision bike are first class. Mark Miller has assisted a countless number of people enter and excel in the world of endurance sports. Many of us would have never participated in a triathlon, much less Ironman distances without the assistance of Mark.
The coward that personally attacked Mark and Ruud obviously do not know either of them.
The only person that really cares about your results are you! None of us are professionals, but weekend warriors regardless how highly we make think of ourselves.
The endurance lifestyle is about having fun, staying fit, and enjoying the ride. Many people in this world will get the opportunity to participate in an endurance event and there are cowards taking personal shots at great people over race results. What a joke?

Cowards show yourselves! Get a life in the process.

  10. Revision from previous post.

    Should read:
Many people will NOT get the opportunity to participate in an endurance event

Wanted to clarify to insure no "cute" comments from the cowards.

  11. The people who live in the Lafayette area that really know Mark don't need to be reminded of the type of guy he is. This post is for those who live outside the Lafayette area that have never had the pleasure of meeting Mark or visiting Precision Bikes. To those people I can honestly say Mark and Precision Bikes have done a great job with assisting the needs of all levels of athletes. Mark, thank you for the inspiration, advice and friendship.

  12. Wouldn't it all be great if we could all get along and just ride our bikes? If I can say one thing about Mark MIller, it is this. Mark has great Hair. The second thing is, I happened to stop by his shop a couple years ago and introduced myself, told him I was from Baton Rouge and asked a few questions. His answers and his overall attitude towards helping me have kept me driving back to Lafayette for all my cycling and triathlon needs ever since. Precision Bikes is a great shop, Mark is a great guy and Ruud does a good job with the site. Let's keep it positive and take it out the frustrations at the next Time Trial.

  13. I have a major complaint . . . When I bring in my bikes to Mark and his crew they constantly fix them, clean them, and tune them up remarkably and I am sick and tired of it.

The service is top notch and Mark goes above and beyond to make sure my bike and my biking experience is phenomenal.

AND THIS REALLY TICKS ME OFF!!!!!

It makes me mad because my big fat butt can't live up to the quality work he and his crew provide for my bikes!

No matter how well he has fit me after a detailed fitting session, or how smoothly they tune up my ride, or how sparkly they make it shine . . . I am still one SLOW MO FO!!!!!!

Mark and crew - I would appreciate it if you would fix, tune, fit, and clean my bikes so damn well because I HAVE NOTHING TO BLAME MY SLOW BIKE SPLITS ON ANYMORE!!!!!!!

    Geeeeesh.
